Range Closure Notice: Ponteland B range remains closed for the forseeable furture. Bookings have been made on Ponteland A range which is 300y only, and also with Darlington Rifle & Pistol Club for longer distances at Wathgill range 6A & Peatfell, part of the Catterick range complex.
Range allocation is becoming challenging with the prospect of losing bookings to higher priority MOD users becoming more frequent. As and when this happens, details will be posted on the website and members will be emailed.

The Northumberland and Durham County team win the English Twenty KGV heat held at DeerHill range nr Huddersfield. The northern regional heat is contested over 3 distances with teams of 8 shooters and two coaches. The team comprising Graham Nelson, Richard Stebbings, Keith Pugh, Kris Dods, Tom Drysdale (capt), Sam Livingston, Tom Stevenson and Katie Milner prevailed over teams from Yorkshire, Cheshire and Lancashire to book a place in the final at Bisley on the 13th July.
A team of four Northumberland & Durham shooters competing in the "Scottish" target rifle open meeting at Blair Atholl ranges pulled together to compete in the Darnley Plate team competition against at least half a dozen other entrants. Surprisingly, the team comprising Keith Pugh, Michael Black, Doug Gass and Christina Cuming won the match beating the Great Britain under 25 team into 2nd place and the Altcar Rifle Club into 3rd.

Club Rifles: We have two club rifles which are available for hire to those who do not have their own rifle. Please book rifle hire with the secretary when you book your shoot. Club Ammunition: "Training grade" ammunition will be available for all shoots below 500y. Typically this will be 147-150gr which is suitable for 300y distances. Match 155gr ammunition will be available for 500y distances and above, but will only be sold to club members for club sanctioned events. We are currently supplying the following ammunition for club shoots: 155gr Sierra Tipped Matchking HPS Targetmaster @ £1.25 per round 150gr Magtech @80p per round The cost of purchasing ammunition will be rounded up to the nearest £. Unused rounds must be returned at the end of a shoot and will not be reimbursed ( aside from exceptional circumstances). Again , please book ammunition requirements when you book your shoot. |
Club Target Rifle Competition Conditions:
All events are shot a Ponteland & Wathgill DTE ranges at 300, 500 and 600 yards, under the Target Rifle rules as published by the National Rifle Association. Club Championship: Best 4 daily gun scores ex.150. Handicap Championship: As Championship but using Club handicap. NEW: In order to assist members to gain 3 or more scores, we have decided to allow two external scores, namely the Association Medals shoot from the Scottish Championships & the combination of the St George’s First Stage & Prince of Wales from the Imperial Meeting at Bisley, both ex 150. It is competitors’ responsibility to notify the Hon. Sec. of their scores in writing, or by email, if they wish them to be included. Range Cups: Best 4 scores at each of 300, 500 & 600 yards. (ex 200 at each range) Ferguson Trophy: Highest position in HM Queen's competition.
